Townsville Creative Technologies College (TCTC)
The Townsville Creative Technologies College (TCTC) is a Digital Trade Training Centre that was co-developed by Heatley Secondary College in partnership with the region’s creative digital industries.
The TCTC delivers nationally-accredited training at Certificate I through to Certificate III (and eventually in Certificate IV) in a specific range of creative industry technology, business, design and production areas.
Students at the TCTC are inspired to create and break new ground as required by a skilled and enterprising labour pool. They are challenged to build their capacity to find creative solutions for graphic design, print, publishing, interactive entertainment, web design, simulation, digital imaging, animation, filmmaking, editing, audio and music production.
Enrolments usually open in October and November and students will be contacted for an interview once you have returned the paperwork to the TCTC team. Contact Mrs Robertson or check the Secondary Office for a Course guide.

Start Uni Now (SUN) @ CQU
Start Uni Now (SUN) is a CQUniversity initiative that allows students in Year 10*, 11 and 12 to study CQUniversity units whilst still in high school. A 'unit' is the word used to describe something similar to your school subjects.
You can enrol in a range of CQUniversity units, either on-campus (face-to-face) or by online study (online), and combine them with your regular high school work. This might be a good option if you are very interested in trialing a university course and is suited to students at a very-high academic level.
*Year 10 students are eligible for Term 3 (November) intake only.

School Based Apprenticeships
School-based apprenticeships and traineeships (SATs) allow high school students, generally in Years 10, 11 or 12, to work for an employer and train towards a recognised qualification, while completing their secondary schooling and studying for their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and/or Overall Position (OP) score.
SATs help young people go places, whether that's a full-time job, a trade career, university, TAFE or other training.
